Vaccination Against Whooping Cough
Whooping cough is a highly infectious and serious illness. It is recommended that all women be vaccinated during each pregnancy, in the third trimester – ideally between 28 and 32 weeks gestation.
Antibodies that form in Mum’s blood as a result of vaccination will cross the placenta and provide protection for your unborn baby until it is ready to receive its own vaccination at 6 weeks of life.
It is also recommended that all close family members and those involved in caring for the baby should receive the vaccine as well.
